It remained a family home until 1998 when, with the help of the community, it was hot-rodded into the coffee house you see today by Damien and Muddy Waters Coffee company. It remained as such for many years, hosting live music and dancing events of all types. Later it would be known as Muddys Hot Cup and eventually Couple Cups
Serg purchased the business as Couple Cups in 2013, and began a changeover of vibe and feel into a community hub, coffee house and "bohemian" style cafe where communication and community could flourish. It was in this spirit that we have hosted open mics, poetry nights by Word Humboldt, meetings for all types of alliances and political groups as well as social change collaborations and Cal Poly Humboldt club meetings.
We always pur community first, hosting a monthly rotating art show by local artists, a selection of local art prints and a stage that is open to performers. We even have a Karaoke Night on occasion.
